- ROAS return on ad spend
- How much money comes back for every £1 you spend on ads. If £100 of ads leads to £400 of sales, that's a ROAS of 4.
- CPC cost per click
- What you pay, on average, each time someone clicks your ad.
- CTR click-through rate
- The share of people who see your ad and click it. 2 clicks from 100 views is a CTR of 2%.
- Conversion
- The thing you actually want someone to do: send an enquiry, call you, book or buy.
- CPA cost per acquisition
- What it costs, on average, to get one conversion. You'll also hear "cost per lead" or "cost per sale".
- Pixel
- A small piece of code from Meta on your website. It tells Meta which visitors went on to enquire or buy, so your ads can find more people like them.
- Impressions
- How many times your ad was shown. One person can see it more than once.
- Retargeting
- Showing ads to people who've already visited your website or engaged with you online.
- Negative keywords
- Searches you tell Google not to show your ad for. A plumber might exclude "plumbing jobs", for example.
- SEO search engine optimisation
- Making your website easier for Google to understand and rank, so you show up in the normal results without paying for each click.
- Landing page
- The page someone lands on after clicking your ad. A good one gets straight to the point and makes the next step obvious.
- Automation
- Emails or texts that send themselves when something happens, like a welcome message when someone signs up.
